Senior Urbanist / Residential Layout Designer
The Role
We are actively seeking an ambitious Senior Urbanist/ Residential Layout Designer to join our driven masterplanning team. This position is suitable for a highly motivated individual who is eager to learn and grow professionally. Successful candidates will work collaboratively with the directors on the planning, research and design of a range of projects including masterplanning, residential layout studies and preparation of design codes. Our projects are often complex and challenging and require agile expertise across planning, design and development to deliver a place making approach.
The successful candidate will be a highly confident, proactive and talented designer with a proven record of project delivery and building successful relationships with clients, consultants and local communities.
The ideal candidate
To thrive in the role, you will have:
A relevant degree in architecture, MA/MSc in Urban Design, Regeneration or Planning, and ideally 3 years+ experience.
Proficient in AutoDesk software for masterplanning and residential layouts (500 dwellings +).
Competence in Adobe Creative Suite.
3D modelling proficiency (SketchUp or similar).
Be able to use Revit (desirable, not essential).
Demonstrable experience of producing high-quality work within tight timescales and budgets.
Experience of wider consultation, including effective community participation.
Comprehensive knowledge of both public and private sector residential markets.
Excellent hand drawing and presentation skills.
Experience and knowledge of working in the UK design/residential/housing industry with either consultancy practice, land promoter or developer.
Skilled and comfortable in producing initial residential feasibility studies and layouts, through to supporting the team on planning applications (Outline, Full, Reserved Matters) with the ability to compile full supporting drawings packs accurately and efficiently to meet the requirements of our range of clients.
The ability to work independently, managing your own time and workload to meet deadlines.
