The former Filton airfield, which closed in 2012 provided one of the largest brownfield site opportunities in the UK. This development provides a unique opportunity to build a new community that provides a new commercial and residential hub for North West Bristol. Origin3 was appointed to provide planning and masterplanning services in order to deliver an Outline Application.
The scheme will deliver a significant part of the Council’s strategic housing provision, and an enhanced employment area focused on aerospace and defense sectors, advanced manufacturing, emerging materials technologies, information technology, and micro-electronics. At the heart of the employment hub will stand the Concorde Museum providing a national destination of aviation excellence. The development proposal also provides residential development for up to 2,675 dwellings and supporting community infrastructure including retail, supermarket, health centre, schools and centre of sporting excellence. Planning permission was granted in June 2015.
